Who Writes These Pages
The posts on this blog are written and published by SpeakCove, the maker of the SpeakCove app and of the free web reader on this site. SpeakCove is made by an independent developer.
We Make SpeakCove, and Say So
Every post shows a line under its title saying that SpeakCove is made by the author of the page. Read our comparisons and roundups with that in mind.
We list SpeakCove's limits next to its strengths. It has no audio export. It only opens DRM-free files, so Kindle and Apple Books purchases can't be imported. The app runs only on iPhone and iPad. Without Premium, playback pauses when you leave the app or lock the phone. Comparison tables mark the rows where the other app does better.
Where Competitor Facts Come From
For other apps we use primary sources: the company's own pricing page, its App Store listing (including the in-app purchase list and the privacy label), its help center or documentation, and its press releases. Each post links them under Sources at the end.
Facts carry a date, such as "as of October 2026", because apps change their plans and features often.
When a company doesn't publish something, such as a price list or the limits of its free plan, we say so. If we quote a figure that someone else reported, we name who reported it and when.
How We Quote Prices
Website and App Store prices often differ. Speechify lists Premium at $139 a year on its website, while its US App Store listing shows a $139.99 Premium purchase. NaturalReader's website plans start at $13.90 a month, and its US App Store plans start at $9.99 a month. So we say which one we quote: "on its website" or "in the US App Store". A few posts in other languages quote the French or Brazilian App Store, and they name it.
We check a post's prices again when we update it or learn that a plan has changed. When we change a fact in a post, we change its "Updated" date.
Facts About SpeakCove
Facts about SpeakCove come from the product itself: the app and the web reader as they ship today, and the app's App Store listing. SpeakCove's price is the US App Store price ($14.99 once for Premium) unless a post names another store.
Rankings and Opinions
We don't publish lab benchmarks or test scores for other apps. Rankings in our roundups are our judgment for the need a post is about, such as price, offline use, file formats or reading support, based on the facts the post lists.
No Affiliate Links
No link on this blog earns us a commission. Links to other apps go to their own websites or App Store listings.
Corrections
If something is wrong or out of date, email contact@speakcove.com with the page and, if you can, a link to the source. That includes companies whose apps we cover. We check the source, fix the post and change its "Updated" date.
